About NurseBuilt

Set up the home like a nurse would. Before you need one.

NurseBuilt was created to help families stop guessing when home suddenly feels unsafe. When a parent falls, comes home from the hospital, or slowly starts to decline, the house that was fine last month is suddenly full of risks no one was trained to see. We take real nursing experience and turn it into practical home safety systems families can actually use, right when they need them most.

Most families aren't facing one simple problem. They're facing a fall, a hospital discharge, an unsafe night, a decline, surgery recovery, chronic illness, a disability-related safety concern, medication confusion, caregiver overwhelm, or a home that no longer matches what their loved one can safely do anymore. NurseBuilt was built for exactly that moment.

Built from real nursing experience

NurseBuilt was created by Halston Juracka, RN-BSN, a hospice nurse, nursing clinical instructor, and Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) with hands-on experience in hospital care, neurological and stroke rehabilitation, home-based patient care, and family caregiver support. It's run alongside his wife Kayla, also a registered nurse, with ten years of experience in the ICU and in nursing management. This is a genuinely nurse-built, family-run company, not a brand that hired a nurse for a photo.

Why I built this

I've spent my career in the rooms most people never see. Hospice. Acute care. And years in neurological, stroke, and brain injury rehabilitation, where I watched people fight their way back toward independence, only to be sent home to a house that wasn't ready for them. I'd see the loose rug, the dark hallway to the bathroom, the medication setup that was an accident waiting to happen, and I'd watch good families try to hold it all together with no training and no plan.

Kayla and I are also parents to four kids, including a son on the autism spectrum. Raising him taught us that a home has to fit the person living in it, and that safety and dignity are the same project. NurseBuilt is everything we wish every family got handed on the way out the door, and almost never does.

— Halston Juracka, RN-BSN

What NurseBuilt does

NurseBuilt gives families nurse-built home safety checklists, room-by-room setup guides, emergency references, medication organization tools, caregiver logs, and family communication resources. Think of it as a home safety assessment you can do yourself, guided by exactly what a nurse looks for when they walk into a home.

The goal is simple: give families a clear starting point when they're asking the hardest question in caregiving, "What do we fix first?"

Small changes — lighting, clear paths, the right support in the right spot — prevent the falls families never see coming.

Who NurseBuilt is for

NurseBuilt is built for the adult child caring for an aging parent, the spouse managing a recovery, the parent of a disabled adult, and anyone bringing a loved one home after a hospital stay, a fall, surgery, or a frightening decline. If you've ever stood in a hallway wondering whether the home is safe enough, this was made for you.

Our mission

Professional home setup help exists, but it's expensive, and it almost never shows up when families actually need it. We're on a mission to change that, to make nurse-built home safety understandable, affordable, and available to anyone, anywhere, before a crisis forces the issue. Nurse-level guidance, without the nurse-level price tag.

What NurseBuilt is not

NurseBuilt is family education and caregiver organization. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, medication management, home health, hospice, therapy, legal advice, emergency support, or a replacement for the person's healthcare team.

For emergencies, call 911. For medical questions, contact the person's doctor, nurse, therapist, pharmacist, home health team, hospice team, or appropriate healthcare professional.

For families and professionals

Families can use NurseBuilt directly through The First 72 Hours Home Safety System. Care organizations, care managers, senior care businesses, physician offices, and healthcare-adjacent professionals can offer NurseBuilt to the families they serve through NurseBuilt Professional Access.
